The Changing Face of PovertyToday, the face of poverty isn’t exactly what you’d expect. More individuals and families than ever before are struggling. Many have never needed help. Until now. Human service agencies across Arizona face a 60-to-80% increase in assistance requests from individuals and business owners who can’t meet payroll. Food banks are serving record numbers of families. More and more families with children are living on the streets or in their cars. The Changing Face of Poverty is a statewide campaign created and coordinated by the Arizona Community Action Association
During the first phase of the campaign, $1.6 million was awarded to 45 human service agencies in a collaboration with the Arizona Grantmakers Forum. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. That’s why the campaign continues.
